Summer Camp (6-10 year olds)

About our camp

For the past 15 years the Cascades Club has offered a classic summer camp experience with an emphasis on paddling skills and swimming at our beautiful waterfront on the Gatineau River.

The camp also offers a variety of activities at our clubhouse – outdoor games, squash, archery, boxing, arts and crafts, baking, board games, etc.

Our goal is to encourage our campers to have an active outdoor lifestyle while building solid long-term friendships.

Our summer camp is recommended for children 6-10 years old (older children are encouraged to transition to our Sprint Canoe Kayak Camp, which offers many of the same activities, but provides more in-depth instruction in paddling various recreational and racing boats).

Camp programming runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Childcare is available from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at an additional cost of $42 per week (or $52 for families with more than 1 child at camp).

Before registering your child(ren) for our camp, please read our inclusion policy and contact us if your child needs additional support at camp.

Member price: $210 per week per child (or $190 per week if registering for 4 or more weeks all at once)

Non-member price: $270 per week per child

Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons (2.5 hours per week) taught by certified swim instructors are available for an additional $52 per week for those who are interested.

Each child’s skill level will be assessed on the first day and progress reports given at the end of the week.

What to bring

A healthy lunch and snacks (NUT FREE), water bottle, running shoes, hat, water shoes (e.g. Crocs, Tevas, Keens), sunscreen, bathing suit, towel, change of clothes, raincoat, warm sweater or jacket. Please label everything clearly with your child’s name! Electronic devices or other valuables are best left at home.

All campers are required to wear a life jacket during water activities. Life jackets are also required during free swim times. The club has enough life jackets for all the campers, however you are welcome to send your child with their own life jacket if you wish.

Campers can bring money to buy extra snacks (e.g. granola bars, fruit bars, freezies, etc.) at our canteen throughout the day. Most snacks cost around $1-$2. If you would like, you can pay ahead and request a day limit for your child.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for our campers. Our coaches and counsellors are all fully certified in First Aid and CPR. We have worked hard over the past few years to make our camp safer and to train our counsellors to deal with a variety of emergency situations.
