Supervisor: Head Coach & Head of Camp

Schedule and Duration: Full-time from June 17th to August 23rd 2019 (~40 hrs/week, 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri).

Salary: Dependent on experience

Summary: In collaboration with the Head Coach and Head of Camp, the Counsellor is responsible for the implementation of camp programming specific to their camper’s age and abilities with the objective of developing and advancing the Cascades Club’s summer programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating, implementing and evaluating weekly programming for Atom age athletes/campers with Head Coach and Head of Camp.
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Performing Camp opening procedures;
  • Greeting and coordinating parent communication on a daily basis;
  • Working closely with the Head of Camp to manage group circulation to ensure compliance and adherence to club policies;
  • Ensuring with assistance of support staff that equipment is maintained and that the Cascades Club and surrounding property is kept tidy and organized within the capacity of the summer camp;
  • Working with Head Coach and Head of Camp to ensure development and implementation of appropriate programming in accordance with Long Term Athlete Development principles;
  • Ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Code of Conduct.
  • Managing emergency procedures.

 

Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bilingual: French and English
  • Enrolled or a graduate of Post-Secondary education will take priority
  • Have a valid driver’s license and access to a car
  • Experience working with children in a camp or daycare environment
  • Canadian Red Cross Standard First-Aid and CPR/AED “C” or equivalent (must have completed course before camp start date)
  • Pleasure Craft Operator’s Certification
  • Knowledge of standard computer software programs (word, excel, etc.)
  • Be organized, creative, positive, and solution-oriented in all situations
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills are essential
  • Red Cross Lifeguard and Swim Instructor certifications
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Sport for Life Long Term Athlete Development model is an asset
  • Acceptable police record check.

Summary: Under the supervision of the Lead Development Coach, Head of Camp and the Head Coach, the Junior staff is responsible for the implementation of camp programming specific to their camper’s age and abilities with the objective of developing and advancing the Cascades Club’s summer programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing weekly camp programming in accordance with Canadian Sport for Life LTAD principles with support of the Lead Development Coach, Head of Camp and Head Coach;
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Implementing a varied and age-appropriate multisport program as designed by the Lead Development Coach, Head of Camp and Head Coach;
  • Assisting the Lead Development Coach and Head of Camp in ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Code of Conduct.
  • Assisting with group circulation to ensure compliance and adherence to club policies;
  • Assist in ensuring the clubhouse and surrounding property is kept tidy and organized and equipment is maintained;
  • Implementing emergency procedures.

Title: Atom Coach (2 positions available)

Supervisor: Head Coach

Schedule and Duration: Full-time from June 17th to August 23rd 2019 (~40 hrs/week, 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri)

Salary: Dependent on experience

Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Coach, the Atom Coach implements a fun developmental paddling program for the U10 group with the goal of developing fundamental movement skills, the campers interest in the sport of sprint canoe kayak and advancing the Cascades Club’s paddling programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and assisting with preparation of weekly programming in accordance with LTAD principles and CanoeKids guidelines with support of Head Coach & Atom/Camp Head Coach
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Creating a coordinated/periodized program including, but not limited to boat skills, technical and physical development.
  • Providing each athlete/camper under their supervision with regular feedback on training/progress and regular milestone assessments where appropriate;
  • Ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Athlete Code of Conduct.
  • Regular communication with parents of athlete/campers to coordinate scheduling, athlete feedback, regatta logistics and promotion of future programs.
  • Organizing and administering group circulation at the waterfront to ensure compliance and adherence to club policies;
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance;
  • With assistance of other staff, ensuring the boat house and surrounding property is kept tidy and organized;
  • Provide leadership, and constructive feedback while working with an assigned Junior Coach.
  • Managing the competition entries of athletes/campers for which they are assigned;
  • Coaching at regattas, both regional and provincial, including Provincial Championships.
  • Assisting with trailer loading and travel logistics;
  • Implementing waterfront emergency procedures.

Title: Coach/Counsellor with Lifeguard Duties (3 positions available)

Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Coach and Head of Camp the Coach/Counsellor with Lifeguarding Duties is responsible for the implementation of camp programming specific to their camper’s age and abilities with the objective of developing and advancing the Cascades Club’s summer programs. While at the waterfront supervising both swim areas to assure campers are participating in water based activities in a safe manner is the primary role as well as the implementation of swimming lessons.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing weekly camp programming in accordance with Canadian Sport for Life LTAD principles with support of the Head Coach and Head of Camp;
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Implementing a varied and age-appropriate multisport program as designed by the Head of Camp and Head Coach;
  • Assisting the Head of Camp in ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Code of Conduct.
  • Work with other staff to coordinate appropriate group circulation to ensure compliance and adherence to club policies;
  • Supervising both swim areas (dock and beach) and water based activities while at the waterfront.
  • Develop and administer a swimming lesson program for Atom aged campers;
  • In collaboration with other staff, ensure the clubhouse and surrounding property is kept tidy and organized and equipment is maintained;
  • Responsible for end of day waterfront clean-up which includes the dock, grass and boathouse areas.
  • Implementing emergency procedures.

Title: Development Coach (2 positions available)

Supervisor: Head Coach

Schedule and Duration: Full-time from June 17th to August 23rd 2019 (~40 hrs/week, 8:30am-4:30pm Mon-Fri).

Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Coach, the Development Coach is responsible for the creation and implementation of fun introductory and developmental programs for first time and or unstable paddlers as well as experienced paddlers ages 11-14. The goal of this program is to educate and develop the fundamental skills of sprint paddling by improving general athletic ability, confidence and consistency in a boat, introducing fun on water workouts, motivation for regatta participation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating and assisting with preparation of weekly programming in accordance with LTAD principles and CanoeKids guidelines with support of Head Coach and Lead Development Coach;
  • Creating a coordinated/periodized program including, but not limited to the following objectives: boat skills, technical and physical development
  • Providing each athlete under their jurisdiction with regular feedback on training/progress and regular milestone assessments where appropriate;

Title: Head of Camp

Supervisor: Head Coach

Schedule and Duration: Part-time May 7th – June 15th (~20hrs/week), Full-time June 17th to August 23rd 2019 (~40hrs/week, Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:00pm)

Salary: Dependent on Experience

Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Coach, the Head of Camp designs and coordinates all programing for the Atom and multi-sport camp, in addition to monitoring and assisting the staff in executing each activity in a fun, safe and organized manner. The Head of Camp is also first in line with communication of information to the families of the campers and is to coordinate, supervise and mentor to all Atom/Camp staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating, implementing and evaluating weekly programming for Atom age athletes/campers with Head Coach.
  • Performing Camp opening procedures;
  • In charge of running all pre-care activities with support of Junior staff.
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Greeting and coordinating parent communication on a daily basis;
  • Supervising (assigning duties, reporting staff hours, managing staff to make sure protocols and execution of programming is successful) the camp staff: Coaches, Counselors, Activity Consultants within the Atom programming capacity.
  • In conjunction with Head Coach, managing relationships with activity consultants;
  • Working closely with the Head Coach to manage group circulation to ensure compliance and adherence to club policies;
  • Ensuring with assistance of support staff that all club equipment is maintained and that the Cascades Club and surrounding property is kept tidy and organized within the capacity of the summer programs;
  • Managing weekly supply purchasing (arts and crafts, kitchen supplies, etc.) and preparing reports on expenses;
  • Working with Head Coach and staff to ensure development and implementation of appropriate programming in accordance with Long Term Athlete Development principles;
  • Coordinating and communicating information between all staff pertaining to all Atom/Camp activities;
  • Ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Code of Conduct for both yourself and your staff.

Title: Lead Development Coach

Supervisor: Head Coach

Schedule and Duration: April 3, 2019 – October 26, 2019 (Part-time ~20hrs/week Spring & Fall, Full-time ~40hrs/week Summer)

Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience

Summary: Under the supervision of the Head Coach, the Lead Development Coach is responsible for the development and implementation of paddling programs for experienced paddlers ranging in age of 11-14. Applicants with goals of continuing their coaching education to the Competition Development level in addition to experience both as an athlete and coach in a high performance environment are preferred for this position.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of weekly programming in accordance with LTAD principles and CanoeKids guidelines with support of Head Coach;
  • Creating a coordinated/periodized program including, but not limited to the following objectives: technical development, tactical development, physical development, mental training, and nutritional support;
  • Providing each athlete under their jurisdiction with regular feedback on training/progress and regular milestone assessments where appropriate;
  • Being a positive role model, and setting the tone for a respectful, cooperative and fun environment, promoting team-building and fair-play;
  • Ensuring compliance with Club safety standards and the Cascades Athlete Code of Conduct.
  • Regular communication with athletes and parents of athletes to coordinate scheduling, athlete feedback, regatta logistics and promotion of future programs.
